The Story Behind PKJ
I didn't find fitness. Fitness found me on a warehouse floor.

I'm Latoya, Before any certification, before any of this, I was an Amazon warehouse employee. Long shifts, heavy lifting, the kind of work that teaches your body its limits whether you ask it to or not. I watched my own back, knees, and spirit pay the price of moving all day with nobody coaching the movement. And I watched it happen to the people around me too.
That was the seed. Somewhere between pallets and clock-outs I realized a hard truth: a huge number of people need help healing — not just shrinking, not just chasing a number on a scale. They need someone to help them transform their health from the inside out. Once I saw that clearly, I couldn't stay on the sidelines. Staying still felt like ignoring a calling.
My hot take on this industry
My hot take on the fitness industry is this: it has become too focused on the outside. True fitness starts within — mind, discipline, and spirit. Walk into most gyms and the whole conversation is aesthetics — abs, angles, transformations measured only in inches. I think that's backwards. When the mind changes, the discipline follows. When the spirit is fed, the body finally has a reason to keep showing up. That's why I call it Faith-Fueled Fitness.
Why "PKJ"
The name is personal. PKJ stands for my grandchildren — Prince, King, and Justyce. Prince is no longer with us; he's with Christ. That's why an angel wing watches over the P in everything I build. This work carries their initials because everything I lift, I lift for family. It's not a slogan. It's the whole reason the lights stay on.
The way I actually coach
Here's something most trainers won't admit: I write every client's program by hand the night before our session. No copy-paste templates, no recycled spreadsheets. I sit down, think about who you are, where your week went, what your body did and didn't handle last time — and I build the next hour around you. It takes longer. That's the point. You are not a number on my roster; you're the only project on the floor for that hour.
I coach live, one-on-one and online, so clients get my full attention an hour at a time from their own space. No rows of mirrors, no grunting strangers, no intimidation tax. Just steady, intentional work — the slow kind that actually lasts. My catchphrase to every client is the same: having a changed mindset changes everything.
What I stand against
I'll never trade in bro-science. I won't do the "no excuses" yelling that makes people feel small. No fake guru energy, no stock-photo abs promising what they can't deliver. And I refuse to overprice my people. I would rather fill my roster with folks who can keep showing up than charge boutique rates to a precious few. Connection over commission — every single time.
I'm newer to training than some, and I say that proudly. I'm ISSA-certified, I'm hungry, and I pour everything I learn straight into the people in front of me. My energy song is "Set For Life," and that's the bar: not a quick fix, but a body and a mindset that hold up for the long haul.
